Monday 17th March 2025 – 11am
53/54, Broad Street, Worcester WR1 3LR
URGENT CALL: This visit has been offered to members by the good offices of Messenger BCR & Co. and following on from an exploratory visit we have learned that as the work is well advanced we need to visit soon in order to be able to see the most interesting aspects of Angel House.
The site incorporates what was two shops and the total building dates from Tudor times with later additions. The building is Grade 2 listed and as the conservation work has progressed timber work from the Tudor period has been found to have been incorporated with timber from a much earlier time. Early in the work the building has been re-roofed made necessary by earlier ill-advised additions which led to structural timbers being compromised – which caused the roof to sag and damage walls. Thankfully the rescue was timely and we will be able to see how this transformation is taking place.
Members are invited free but there will be a small charge of £5 for non-Trust members. Because this place is a building site you will be expected to wear strong boots or shoes and hard hat with high vis. Please bring your own of these items if you have them.
Book soon as this is a small intimate building and numbers will be limited.
To book, please contact Caroline at the WMHBT office asap by emailing events@wmhbt.org.uk.
