After the Covid 19 enforced abandonment of planned events during 2020 we are planning to provide a substitute. This will be in the form of online presentations and we trust that members will be able to access these and still enjoy the talks minus the normal interaction of being together. We will contact those members for whom we have email addresses with the link details for each talk.
There are some of our members who may not be able to access our events in this way and for that we apologise and will publish as full an account of the online talks as we can in the Newsletter. We hope that this arrangement will soon be superseded by ‘business as usual’ when we can again meet together.

THE CHANCE PROJECT – the challenge of breathing new life into an Historic Site.
Mark Davies, Chair of “Chance Heritage Trust” will talk about the history of Chance Brothers, glass makers and designers, who famously provided the glass for the ‘Crystal Palace’ of the Great Exhibition and light lenses for most of the world’s lighthouses. In addition he will share the challenges of mounting a large regeneration project.

THE WELLER ARCHVE – Gillian Roberts will give us an introduction to this archive and her recent researches into it which were funded by The City of Wolverhampton Regenerating Buildings Preservation Trust during her period of study at Cambridge University.
William Weller (1877 – 1960) was born in Wolverhampton and was the third generation of a family of architects. Our look into the Archive will show Weller’s development from his early drawings, through his wide reading and researching to his mature development as an accomplished exponent of the Arts and Crafts Style, with the main local examples.
