Arts Council England
Let’s Create Jubilee Project

Arts Council England Let’s Create Jubilee Fund, administered by Worcestershire Community Foundation awarded us funding in spring 2022 which allowed the WBPT to run an exciting multi-generational pilot project to gather oral history, comparing the 7 decades of Queen Elizabeth’s reign in the Droitwich West area where Willow Court Farmhouse is situated.
The Arts Council England funded enable us to employ Julia Letts, an experienced oral historian, who worked with children from Westland’s First School, Droitwich.

Video Shorts

During the project the children learnt how to prepare questions and then they had the chance to ask these questions to local residents and their family at a coffee morning. They then had the opportunity to become film makers, directing, producing and recoding filmed interviews with members of the local community. They even got to speak to Nigel Huddleston MP,  Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Listen to the Westland's Radio Podcast

The culmination of the project was an afternoon celebration on the 18 July 2022 at Westland’s School. Members of the local community, the residents association and the Mayor of Droitwich, joined the children to see videos of the project, listen to their ‘Westland’s radio’ programme and hear and see their special signed version of the National Anthem.
